Janus laid thoughtlessly in the darkness of her room. Slowly, Janus’s eyelids grew heavy and she embraced the darkness. A fatigued sleep slowly crept upon Janus, but to no avail. Though fatigued and tired, her mind raced; her body was restless; and thus she was unable to sleep. Janus yearned for that world that would rid her of her pitiful existence ridiculed by illness. Time passed ever so slowly – seconds seemed like days, minutes like months, hours like years, and yet still sleep would not engulf Janus and free her from her prison.

Slowly, ever so slowly, the sun began rising and the light entered her room. Yet sleep was still out of Janus’s grasp. Drops of tear slowly squeezed out from beneath her eyelids, slowly lulling down her face. Then suddenly, that darkness she loved so much slowly began to embrace her. Darker, darker, and ever so more until all that remained was the pitch black darkness. Her long awaited world was coming; the world of dreams where she too could be normal, a place she longed for.

Quick as lightning, the bright light penetrating the cover of her eyelids just as sleep engulfed her, snapping her back into reality. Awakening to a seemingly regular day feeling somewhat rested by her short sleep, Janus stretched and yawned. Opening her eyes, she stared blankly into a world she didn’t know of.

Vast stretches of greenery revealed themselves, far as the eye can see as if she was in an ocean of grass. Above this ocean of greenery, an equally majestic blue sky dotted by massive white clouds stretched from horizon to horizon, meeting the greenery in front of her. Behind her, far beyond the vast stretches of the grassland she was in, majestic mountains soared into the heavens. Awestricken by such beauty she had only dreamed of seeing, Janus unconsciously cried tears of joy, the first in her life.

Yet as happy as she was, the panic soon struck her. Janus had no idea where she was or why she was there. Her heart raced as this realization destroyed her previous joy and blindly she raced forward praying to find someone, or something. Wandering in this seemingly endless ocean of grass tall as she, despair struck. Endlessly she ran – as fast as she could – yet never could she see an end. Night came. Fatigued and still lost seeing no end to the endless ocean of grass, she collapsed tearfully; wishing this dream – this nightmare – would come to an end, not minding the comfort of returning to the familiarity of her once pitiful existence plagued by illness.

This was a bit, random, in all honesty. I don't know what spurred me to write this or anything, I just wrote it because I really had nothing to do today.
